Balancing employment and cancer caregiving: Exploring caregiver and workplace perspectives

Closes 30 June 2026

What is this study about?
This study aims to understand the support and challenges people may face while managing work and providing informal care to someone with cancer. The findings from this study will help to understand what changes are needed to workplace policies and practices, to enable them to better support employees who are also informal caregivers.

Who can take part?
Participants will be individuals who are currently, or have within the past year, provided informal care for a person with cancer while also managing paid employment. You may be eligible to take part in this study if you:
- are aged 18 years or older
- are a resident of Australia
- are currently engaged in paid employment (or were employed while informally caregiving)
- are currently providing informal care or support to a person with cancer

What will happen if I take part?
If you choose to participate, you will be invited to take part in an online interview (via Zoom) lasting approximately 30 - 60 minutes, at a mutually agreed time. During the interview, you will be asked about your experiences of balancing caregiving responsibilities with work commitments.
