I work with adolescents, parents and parent-child relationships. Parents often report difficulties they are having with their childrens emotions and behaviour, their own frustration or anxiety, and not knowing how to respond to these difficulties. Childrens development is influenced by several things: genetics, temperament, and the environment they develop in. Of these, we have most influence over their developmental environments. Initially, we work with parents to identify and increase the desirable emotion and behaviour they see in their children. Only then do we work on reducing the undesirable things. We also know that children do better in environments where parents can manage without becoming frustrated or angry, so we work to address any parent characteristics that influence childrens development. We also work with adolescents, either in conjunction with their parents or on their own, depending on whats going on, and the preferences adolescents and parents have
