I have been working as a psychologist for more than 29 years with GP medical centres, educational/community welfare organisations and in my own private practice providing psychological intervention. I can also assist with referral and advocacy for clients to access government and non-government service providers according to their needs when appropriate. My clients are diverse and are from English, non-English speaking and indigenous backgrounds.
Based on what I have observed and experienced in this field, I strongly support the idea that people suffering with emotional distress or trauma have the potential to achieve higher levels of rehabilitation than previously, using contemporary research based strategies. It is in this context that the most effective rehabilitation programs combine social, medical, spiritual and emotional factors to achieve better outcomes in the long term (holistic approach).
