Michael's key areas of interest and experience include stress, depression, anxiety, men's mental health, relationships, trauma, grief, and addictions. Michael enjoys working with individuals experiencing short or longer term difficulties. He assists clients understand the factors driving their distress, and develop behaviours which create sustainable change in mood and functioning.
In addition to his clinical work, Michael is a researcher at the University of Sydney's Brain and Mind Centre, where he is currently investigating biomarkers for mood disorders, and factors involved in the stress response.
Michael has also spent many years researching the way men cope with low moods, depression and why they might attempt suicide.
He has developed a number of treatment plans to assist people better manage their mood, including an online program called 'Unwind Your Mind'.
Michael is also a sought after speaker and author of the book 'StressLess'.
