I have noticed that no matter why someone comes to therapy, their issues usually result in relationship problems of some kind. E.g, if you are depressed you are likely to avoid others even though you may also be lonely. If you suffer from social anxiety, you may still wish you could relate to people but your beliefs about being negatively evaluated prevent you from approaching them. An inability to better control emotions will also set you up for relationship problems because you may over or under react to others based on your perceptions of their intentions in relationships. I became a psychologist because I was fascinated by the idea there was a scientific explanation for human behaviour. I tend to focus on problems of emotional control such as personality disorders/traits, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma, grief and loss. However, as a clinical psychologist, I treat all types of psychological problems. I use CBT, Mentalisation & IFS informed therapy. Zoom available
