At Sydney University, Evelyn completed an honours degree in psychology in 1973, and then in 1975 completed a postgraduate degree in clinical psychology. She worked at Callan Park Psychiatric Hospital for two years, and then moved to the USA where she worked at the Family Guidance Center of Warren County, New Jersey; and then at Brooklyn Therapy and Counseling Service as a clinical psychologist. Returning to Australia in 1980, Evelyn worked at Glebe Community Health Center for eight years. She began private practice part-time in the early 80's, and then moved to full-time private practice in 1988. Evelyn has also worked as an authorised report writer for the Victims Compensation Tribunal. Apart from standard CBT training (including mindfulness), Evelyn has been trained in systems theory, family and marital therapy; hypnotherapy and EMDR treatment and its offshoots (resource installation and affect management skills training). Evelyn is an active member of the APS EMDR Interest Group.
