I completed my clinical training and doctorate at Oxford before taking up a Lectureship in the Department of Psychological Medicine at Monash University. My career has included training clinical psychologists and research into the disorders that I see in my clinical practice. I have held professional practice leadership roles including Director of Psychology at Monash Health and President of the Australian Psychological Society. My practice has involved seeing individuals with a wide range of disorders including anxiety and depression. Areas of special interest include headache and migraine as well as other chronic pain disorders. I use cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), an approach defined by its commitment to evidence-based techniques. My practice is framed in lifestyle medicine as lifestyle is critical to health and wellbeing. There are 6 pillars of lifestyle medicine: diet, exercise, stress, avoidance of smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, sleep and social connections/support.
