Join the APS Gold Coast Branch for an engaging Movie Night featuring a screening of the Australian film June Again, followed by an interactive Q&A with neuropsychologist Dr Kerryn Pike.

June Again explores the experiences of a woman living with dementia, offering a moving and thought provoking portrayal of memory, identity, family relationships and the impact of cognitive change. Following the screening, Dr Kerryn Pike will facilitate a discussion exploring the neuropsychological themes presented throughout the film, including dementia, cognition, diagnosis, and the lived experience of individuals and their families. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and participate in an open discussion, making this an informative and engaging evening for psychologists, students, allied health professionals and anyone with an interest in brain health and neuropsychology.

The evening will be held on Friday, 21 August 2026, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the G40 Lecture Theatre, Griffith University, Gold Coast Campus, Parklands Drive, Southport. The event will begin with light catering and networking, followed by the film screening and concluding with the Q&A session.

Light refreshments, including Subway catering and drinks, will be provided.

This event is open to both members and non members. Registration fees are $5 for APS members and $10 for non-members. Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this event, participants should be able to:

• Describe common cognitive, behavioural and psychosocial features associated with dementia as illustrated through the lived experiences portrayed in June Again.
• Reflect on the impact of dementia on individuals, families and interpersonal relationships from a neuropsychological perspective.
• Discuss the role of neuropsychological assessment and intervention in supporting people living with dementia and their carers.
• Consider the importance of person-centred, compassionate and evidence-informed approaches when working with individuals experiencing cognitive impairment.
• Apply insights from the film and facilitated discussion to enhance clinical understanding, empathy and communication when supporting clients and their families.

Dr. Kerryn Pike

About the presenter(s)

Associate Professor Kerryn Pike is a Clinical Neuropsychologist whose research focuses on the early identification and management of mild cognitive impairment, dementia and cognitive health across the lifespan. She has extensive expertise in understanding risk factors for cognitive decline and translating evidence-based neuropsychological interventions into clinical practice. Associate Professor Pike chairs the Australian Dementia Network (ADNeT) Cognitive Interventions Working Party and the International Neuropsychological Society's Special Interest Group on Neuropsychological Intervention. Her work is dedicated to improving cognition, memory and everyday functioning for individuals experiencing cognitive change.

Registration includes light refreshments, including Subway catering and drinks. Please arrive from 6:00 pm to allow time to collect refreshments before the screening commences.

Venue:

The venue is easily accessible via the G tram, with Gold Coast University Hospital Station located just a short walk from the Griffith University Gold Coast campus.

Parking:

Paid parking is available on campus for those travelling by car.

This event is suitable for psychologists, psychology students, other health professionals and members of the community with an interest in dementia, neuropsychology and the lived experience of cognitive change.
