APS College
Overview
Join us for this interactive event designed to connect industry practitioners with both leading and emerging researchers from the University of Queensland’s Centre for Business and Organisational Psychology (CBOP). This event is a collaboration between CBOP and the APS College of Organisational Psychology (Qld).
We are delighted to have Dr Blake McMillan, an outstanding applied researcher and leadership development specialist, join us to share his experience of working with our own Alex Haslam to develop and commercialise the 5R leadership program and how this has provided a lens to better understand how to turn good research into lasting change, whatever the intervention.
We are also fortunate to have Assoc Prof Kirsten Way join us as a presenter. Well known to many of us in Brisbane, Kirsten is a leading researcher in the field of psychosocial risk and safety and is also guiding many related student research projects. Kirsten will share some of the latest research on work related mental health and its application in industry.
This will be followed by a series of research pitches where current CBOP researchers and students will share insights and questions emerging from their research projects, showcasing the breadth of topics currently being explored at CBOP.
The event will commence with a light breakfast and the opportunity to meet and network with friends and new industry and research colleagues. After the presentations, we move to interactive round table discussions involving all participants to identify pressing industry issues and link this with contemporary, practical challenges and current or emerging research evidence. A panel of discussants will respond to these questions to develop a picture of key areas where professionals and academia can work together for practical outcomes.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this event, participants should be able to:
- Outline a practical model for translating evidence into practice.
- Relate key areas of research in organisational psychology to contemporary workforce issues.
- Illustrate specific examples of where academic - practitioner collaboration could address emerging workplace issues.
