Understanding of Psychedelic Plant Medicine for consciousness, healing and personal growth

Overview

This is a unique opportunity for Australian psychologists to engage directly with traditional ceremonial leaders and to deepen their understanding of psychedelic plant medicines within indigenous knowledge systems. Led by Master Puma Fredy Quispe Singona, this sessions explore how healing, spirituality and consciousness are understood within Andean traditions.

Rather than approaching psychedelic experiences soly through individual or clinical frameworks, participants are introduced to a relational world view in which healing is shaped by land, community, ancestry and ceremony.

The discussion will examine how experiences described in western settings as transpersonal or expands states are interpreted within indigenous cosmology and why these perspectives are essential for ethical, culturally informed practice.

It will explore how experiences often described in clinical settings as spiritual, transpersonal, or expanded-state phenomena are understood within traditional knowledge systems, and why these frameworks matter for ethical, culturally-informed psychedelic practice.

Particular attention is given to spirituality, not as an abstract or internal concept, but as something lived through relationship, reciprocity and participation in wider field of life.

Participants will gain insight into plant medicine technology, ceremonial containers, collective processes, and the role of the guide within traditional context alongside a deeper appreciation of accountability, humility, and scope of practice.

Framed as a bridge between Western Psychology and indigenous Wisdom Traditions, this event invites clinicians to expand their understanding of healing beyond the individual, towards a relational and ecological model of care grounded in respect, ethics and lived experience.

The event will be 1 CPD hr + 30 Q&A. There will be opportunity for questions and answers at the end of the presentation.

  • Ethical grounding in working with expanded states and culturally-held practices.
  • An embodied understanding of the role of the guide and what is required.

Presenter(s)

Master Puma Fredy Quispe Singona

About the presenter(s)

Master Puma Fredy Quispe Singona is an Andean ceremonial leader and medicine carrier from Chinchero, Peru. He carries the wisdom of the Q’anchis Ylla (Rainbow Lineage), an ancestral tradition of the Inca people, dedicated to self-realisation, relational harmony, and connection with Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the wider human family.

He began training at the age of six under the guidance of his grandfather, the late Don Máximo, following a lightning strike— understood within Andean cosmology as a form of spiritual initiation. From that time forward, he immersed himself in ceremonial, cosmological, and energetic traditions of the Andes, learning and mastering rituals and practices held within the Q’anchis Ylla (Rainbow Lineage).

Master Puma has also studied direct lineages of Huachuma (San Pedro) from the Peruvian coast and works with Ayahuasca within Amazonian ceremonial contexts. He conveys profound respect for Pachamama and ancestral plant medicine, and facilitates ceremonies that support healing, relational repair, and personal and collective awakening.

His teachings emphasise:

  • Respect for Pachamama and ancestral plant medicine
  • Relational harmony between human beings, land, and community
  • Living in Ayni (sacred reciprocity)
  • Transmission of Andean cosmology through storytelling and lived experience

Since adolescence, Master Puma has attended international gatherings and led conferences with spiritual and Indigenous leaders globally, and has been featured in books and films about the Andean medicine path. His mission continues the legacy of his grandfather by sharing the wisdom and medicine of his ancestral culture in an inspiring and heartfelt way.
