COPSA's Org Psych Endorsement Group Supervision (OPEGS) for Registrars Session 11: Competency #3

Overview

This is the last session of the current structured group Supervision Program 2025-2026 to support Organisational Psychology registrars undertaking their endorsement process.

This workshop focusses on Competency 3 regarding self-reflection and self-care, as well as reflecting on the previous 18 months of the program and the improvements registrars have made in each of the areas of practice.

Details of Competency 3: Exercises professional reflexivity, purposeful and deliberate practice, and self-care:

  • 3.1 Understands the parameters underpinning professional competence and can articulate the knowledge, skills and other attributes necessary to practise effectively and safely.
  • 3.2 Recognises the limits of own competence and refers on to other practitioners.
  • 3.3 Critically evaluates the effectiveness of own professional practice and strengths and weaknesses, including regularly self-assessing against the professional competencies.
  • 3.4 Engages in reflection and reflexivity on the impact of one’s own culture, values, beliefs and biases, and acts upon such reflection and ensures practice is responsive and adaptive to client, context and culture.
  • 3.5 Engages in self-reflection and critical selfreflexivity with disciplinary knowledge and professional practice.
  • 3.6 Identifies areas for improvement in their professional practice, competence and conduct, and implements activities to enhance competence and development of professional identity.
  • 3.7 Monitors and manages self-care to sustain professional functioning and wellbeing.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this event, participants should be able to:

  • demonstrate understanding of Competency 3 
  • reflect on their practice improvement over the past 18 months of the program

About the presenter(s)

Hayley Lokan is a Registered and Endorsed Organisational Psychologist and Board Approved Supervisor. Hayley started her career with PKF Organisation Development in 2008 (which later became BDO Industrial and Orgaisational Development). She started her own consulting firm in 2015, and become one of 5 Directors of ISC Consulting in 2021. As a consultant, Hayley worked with a diverse range of industries to assist businesses to become more productive and effective through her work with individuals, teams and organisations as a whole.

Hayley joined Tonkin in 2023 as the Workforce Capability Lead, with the goal of bringing her diverse  range of consulting skills to an inhouse role. Hayley is part of the Senior Leadership Team and aims to develop the leadership capability across the organisation, providing support to individuals to enable them to perform to their potential.

Dr. Sonya Vandergoot, an Organisational Psychologist, worked for approximately seven years as a Performance Coach with GPex ( Modmed), coaching medical registrars preparing to sit their Royal Australian College of General Practitioners fellowship exam.. or other medical specialty exams. Sonya also has over 10 years’ experience as an Organisational Psychologist working in the Public Sector, including SA Health and Dept of Communities and Social Inclusion, as well as at Adelaide Women’s and Children’s Hospital as a research psychologist. Sonya completed her Masters of Mediation and Conflict Management in 2011 and has experience of working with teams in conflict. Sonya also completed her PhD at the University of Adelaide in 2019. Her thesis examined the influencing factors of the transfer of conflict resolution and leadership skills, from training to the workplace.

Target Audience

This event is aimed at all Psychologists interested in undertaking Organisational Psychology endorsement.

  • A post-event email will be sent within two weeks of the event’s completion to each registrant’s registered email address. This email will include the CPD certificate, and any additional resources shared during the session.
