Overview
The regulatory cavalry is not coming. The 2026 Australian AI Roadmap confirms a “light-touch” approach, placing the burden of governance squarely on clinicians. For psychologists using AI for transcription, drafting, report support, or clinical admin, this creates immediate legal exposure.
This workshop converts national policy into clinical action. We translate the Roadmap into practical compliance strategies, unpack the new Statutory Tort for Serious Invasion of Privacy, and examine how AI transcription errors could create liability risks. We also address Automated Decision-Making (ADM) transparency requirements and demonstrate exactly how to disclose AI involvement in diagnostic reports without compromising clinical authority or breaching professional standards.
You will leave with a defensible, legally literate framework for AI use in practice.

Upon completion of this event, participants should be able to:

- Explain the implications of the Statutory Tort for Serious Invasion of Privacy for AI-assisted practice.
- Draft compliant disclosures regarding AI involvement in assessment and reporting.
- Implement a defensible governance framework aligned with AHPRA and APS expectations.
