This workshop looks at the extension of schema therapy beyond the model of 18 early maladaptive schemas to take into account schema modes. Modes were added to the Schema Therapy model to assist clients who have rapidly changing mood states. These changes help in dealing with clients who are more emotionally labile and may be diagnosed with a personality disorder or Complex PTSD. The treatment outcome data published to date strongly supports the model. Attendance at this workshop assumes a good working knowledge of the basic Schema Therapy model taught in the Introductory Workshop. An emphasis in the workshop is on the practise of experiential skills to facilitate mode change.

The workshop also focuses on a schema approach to the therapy relationship. Therefore skills associated with reparenting techniques and limit setting are explored and practised.
The workshop concludes with a session on understanding the role of therapist's schemas in the therapeutic relationship.
