COPSA Group Supervision for Registrars Session 4 Psych Assessment & Measurement (Competency 3, Pt 1)

Overview

Organisational Psychology registrars completing their specialty endorsement must complete supervised practice (hours vary depending on qualification). Up to 33% of supervision hours can be completed as group supervision (e.g., 26 hours when 80 total hours of supervision required).

This is the College of Organisational Psychologists’ (South Australian branch) second structured Group Supervision Program to support Organisational Psychology registrars to complete group supervision for their endorsement. There are 12 sessions of two hours each scheduled over 18 months in 2025-2026. This is the fourth session of 12.

The stand-alone group supervision sessions are facilitated by Board-approved, endorsed Organisational Psychologists. Each session requires active participation, self-reflection, and application of the registrars’ knowledge. There may be pre-work needed prior to sessions.

Psychological assessment and measurement (Competency #3).

This first of two facilitated discussions on this competency will be led by Tim Ridgway of ISC Consulting Group. Psychological assessment and measurement competency includes topics such as:

  • Requirements for using of multi-source and multi-rater assessments (eg 360 degree)
  • Requirements for the use of targeted validated measures such as:
    •   job analysis
    •   recruitment and selection
    •   worker motivation
    •   work performance
    •   health and wellbeing
    •   career development/vocational assessment

Reflection guide: Please reflect on the type of psychological assessments and measurements you use regularly in your work. Please consider pros and cons, with examples thereof.
