Overview
This event will provide an introduction to neurodiversity in sport, and in particular in elite sport.
The theoretical underpinnings will be discussed, as well as the subsequent systemic and practical considerations for practitioners working within sporting spaces. In addition, the current evidence-base for neurodiversity-affirming approaches in sport will be presented.
The event will conclude with opportunities for the future opportunities for neurodiversity in sport and question time.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this event, participants should be able to:
1. To understand neurodiversity in the specific context of sport.
2. To identify the systematic and practical considerations for practitioners working in sport for neurodiversity.
3. To upskill in evidence-based neurodiversity-affirming approaches in sport.
4. To gain awareness of opportunities for the future of neurodiversity in sport including knowledge gaps to date.

Associate Professor Erin Hoare
About the presenter(s)
Associate Professor Erin Hoare is a psychologist (Ed&Dev Registrar), retired AFLW footballer, and researcher in the field of public health. Her research has focused on multi-level interventions to best support mentally healthy systems, including in elite sport. Her recent research has examined neurodiversity among elite athletes and working towards inclusive sporting systems in which all individuals can thrive. She is an appointed member of the Our Equal State Reference Group for the Victorian Government, in which she provides expert advice relating to gender equity, inclusion, and mental health. She was previously a Board Director of a national disability sporting organisation. Erin lives and works on Wadawurrung Country.

This event is aimed at psychologists, health professionals and other professionals working in sport.
Duration of Access
This event will be recorded. The recording will be emailed to all registered within 2 weeks post event and available for viewing up to 90 days.
