Digital Health 101

Overview

Digital Health 101 is an introductory self-paced eLearning activity that aims to equip participants with practical knowledge of the fundamentals of digital health and how digital is transforming and disrupting health and care on a global scale. 

Directly informing practice, psychologists will gain a greater understanding of data informed practice and models used to structure clinical decision making.

Through seven comprehensive modules, the topics covered are:

  1. Introduction to digital health
  2. Understanding the environment
  3. Opportunities offered by digital health
  4. ​Understanding data
  5. ​Business and service models are changing
  6. ​Changing roles and responsibilities
  7. ​Health and wellness are merging

Digital Health 101 aims to provide psychologists with a contextual understanding of the digital transformations occurring in the health and care sector, the ability to recognise key areas of digital health (virtual care, remote monitoring, interoperability, artificial intelligence, connected care and others), and how their role and profession fits within the larger changes occurring in Australia's healthcare system.

Level of Learning

Foundational. This activity is targeted to those new to the topic.

Target audience

This activity is targeted to psychologists in all career stages and general practitioners.

Access to this eLearning activity is 6 months.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the meaning of digital health and recognise key terminology used in this field.

  2. Recognise the structure of the current healthcare system, key priorities and pressures, and global trends.

  3. Explain the evolution of digital health, the latest advancements and the opportunities for connected care.

  4. Describe the essential aspects of data - types of data, data quality, ethics, privacy, consumer perspectives, and translation of data into information, knowledge and wisdom.

  5. Recognise the changing business, service and care models powered by digital health and the different types of change.

  6. Identify how roles and responsibilities are changing with advances in digital health.

  7. Explain the illness-wellness continuum and how digital health supports patient and consumer wellbeing.
