Sex and relationship series

This webinar provides an introduction to supporting those in non-traditional relationships, such as non-monogamous relationships and kink practices and is tailored for practitioners aiming to better support individuals in these communities.

It will cover:

  • non-traditional relationships, including various forms of consensual non-monogamy, open relationships, polyamory, and monogamish dynamics,

  • exploration of the principles and practices within the kink community, with an emphasis on consent, communication, and safety,

  • common myths and misconceptions about alternative relationships,

  • the discrimination and stigma faced by individuals in these communities across various facets of life, and

  • provide practical guidance on creating inclusive and supportive therapeutic environments, as well as encouraging participants to reflect on personal biases to enhance awareness and mitigate limitations in supporting diverse relationship preferences sensitively and effectively.

Foundational. This activity is targeted to those new to the topic.

About the presenter(s)

Ms Rachelle Abraham (she/her) is a sex and relationship therapist at the Centre for Relational and Sexual Wellbeing. She specialises in supporting individuals and relationships engaging in consensual non-monogamy, including polyamorous relationships. She also works extensively with neurodiverse relationships and neurodivergent individuals, as well as sex workers and those practicing kink. She holds a Master of Counselling from the University of Queensland and a Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Michigan.
