APS Professional development
Overview
The APS hosts this webinar with the APS College of Clinical Psychologists.
Clinical EEG Neurofeedback is emerging as an evidence-based approach to helping clients with a range of difficulties including emotional dysregulation, the effects of trauma, difficulties with attention and cognitive function.
In this webinar we will hear from Clinical Psychologists who use Neurofeedback in their clinical work with clients and it will cover what Neurofeedback is, how it works, and a summary of the evidence base to date.
The presenters will elaborate on their use of Neurofeedback with different populations including children and adolescents, trauma survivors, and adults with ADHD. There will be a case study to demonstrate the use of Event-Related Potentials (a biomarker for ADHD) in guiding neurofeedback protocols. They will include practical information about how to get started in neurofeedback, including an overview of the Accreditation process and training requirements for safe, ethical practice.
Following on from Dr Bessel van der Kolk's Keynote lecture at the 2024 APS College of Clinical Psychologists Conference "Frontiers of Trauma Treatment: Neurofeedback and Psychedelics", this webinar will provide a more detailed, practical overview of the use of EEG Neurofeedback in clinical practice with clients, from Australian psychologists who use it in their clinical practice. Neurofeedback is a practical application of operant conditioning and neuroplasticity - both concepts deeply embedded in psychologist training.
