Member (MAPS) 

There are two pathways to becoming a Member. 

Registration: Join or upgrade to Member if you hold current general registration as a psychologist in Australia.  

This grade is recognised by the postnominal MAPS.  

Postgraduate: You can also join or upgrade to Member if you have completed a six-year sequence of study in psychology. 

This includes four years of Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited study in psychology and either 

  • A two year or more APAC-accredited postgraduate coursework degree, such as a MPsych, DPsych or MPsych/PhD, or

  • A postgraduate research degree (minimum two years full-time) in psychology, such as a PhD or MA (Research)

Early Career discount

If you apply within 12 months^ of completing your 5th and 6th year course requirements or within 12 months of gaining general registration you will receive a 50% discount to your membership fees. 

^The date that determines whether you are eligible for the Member, Early Career discount is the date when you met all the course requirements for your degree, NOT the date when you graduated or received your qualification certificate. 

*Join between 11 February and 31 May of the same year and receive APS membership until 31 May of the following year.
