Student and early career psychologists

Early career support

Access to tailored support and information is important when you are starting out in your career.    

Our Early Career Resource Hub brings together information and opportunities from across our organisation to assist early career psychologists navigate those first steps in their profession and build a professional identity.

Our Early Career Advisory Group (ECAG) represents the needs of our early career members. The group advises the APS Board on areas of interest for early career psychologists such as career development, networking and transition to practice.

Early career or Provisional psychologists benefit from reductions in membership fees for those in the first two years of their career and on a low income.

Students have access to exclusive events, networking, mentoring and expert advice and guidance. APS membership gives our students the edge as they navigate their way through the complex world of psychology education and training.

Free insurance

Our approved insurance partner Aon, offers free combined malpractice insurance for psychology postgraduate students and registrars who meet the eligibility criteria. This includes cover for professional indemnity, public and product liability.

You can then receive 14 months cover for the price of 12 should you transition to the approved professional indemnity policy once your studies are complete.
