You can join or upgrade to the grade of Member if you have completed a six-year sequence of study in psychology.

You can join or upgrade to the grade of Member if you hold current general registration as a psychologist in Australia.

The APS is the leading association for psychologists in Australia, representing more than 27,000 members. You can join the APS if your overseas qualifications are assessed by the APS to be comparable to the level required for the relevant grade.

Assessment of overseas qualifications for the purpose of registration Please note: the APS no longer accepts applications for assessment of psychology qualifications for the purpose of registration. You must apply directly to the Psychology Board of Australia for provisional or general registration to practise as a psychologist in Australia.
If you join between:
*Join between 11 February and 31 May of the same year and receive APS membership until 31 May of the following year. ^Fees are reviewed annually by the APS Board ahead of the APS membership year starting 1 June.
You are eligible for the Early Career Fee if you apply within 12 months from completing your 5th and 6th year course requirements or within 12 months of gaining general registration. You will receive a 50% discount in your first year.
*Join between 11 February and 31 May of the same year and receive APS membership until 31 May of the following year.
If you are eligible for other reductions, you will be given the most generous of the relevant reduction available. ^The date that determines whether you are eligible for the Member, New Graduate rate is the date when you met all the course requirements for your degree, NOT the date when you graduated or received your qualification certificate.
