The APS Rehabilitation Psychology of Injury, Chronic Illness and Pain Interest Group Professional Practice Award seeks to promote and encourage excellence in the professional practice in the areas of assessment and treatment, education, community education, training/supervision, mentoring, advocacy and/or service development.
Administration
- The Member Group is responsible for administering the Award and for funding of the Award.
- The Rehabilitation Psychology of Injury, Chronic Illness and Pain Interest Group (RPICIPIG) committee will form a Selection Committee which will access eligible applications against the criteria of the Award
- The Selection Committee will provide a rationale for the proposed Award winner to the RPICIPIG committee which can then decide to support (or not support) the proposal and forward such to the APS Board of Directors for consideration
- The Selection Committee may advise the RPICIPIG committee not to offer an Award, if no suitable nomination is received
- Within any given year, the RPICIPIG committee may determine to offer the Award to more than one winner, and the Award prize amount will be divided between the Award winners
- Once the recommended candidate has been approved by the APS Board, the Award will be presented at a RPICIPIG or other APS event.
Eligibility
- Nominees must fully registered psychologist, be an APS member and are current subscribers of the RPICIPIG
Nomination process
- Calls for nominations for the RPICIPIG Professional Practice Award will be advertised via APS digital communication channels.
- Call for nominations will also be made via promotion to all Interest Group members though PsyCommunity and other APS digitial communication channels.
- Proposers and seconders must hold the grade of member at the APS and be subscribers of the RPICIPIG
- Nominations may be accepted from the nominee
- Nominations will be in the form of written recommendations from the referees, each of a maximum length of 300 words, which will be directly based on the selection criteria and clearly indicates meritorious professional practice, advocacy and/or education achievements

Selection criteria
In judging the nominations for the Award, the selection committee will consider the substantial contribution to rehabilitation psychology in the areas of:
- Assessment and treatment
- Education
- Training / supervision
- Mentoring
- Advocacy; and / or
- Service development
Value of award
Successful candidates of the award will:
- be presented with a certificate
- The total amount presented per year for this award will be $500.00
