The Maconochie Prize is named for Alexander Maconochie, the governor of Norfolk Island Penal Colony in the 1840’s. Alexander Maconochie was renowned for his progressive and enlightened approach to corrections and is considered the father of parole. The Maconochie Prize encourages and rewards outstanding forensic psychology research by students for an outstanding publication in a refereed journal based on a student’s thesis.
