Associate Professor Bethany Wootton is a Clinical Psychologist in the Discipline of Clinical Psychology, University of Technology Sydney.
Over the past 10 years she has led a program of research that has focused on the dissemination of evidence-based treatment for anxiety and related disorders using digital health technologies. For example, Associate Professor Wootton has developed and evaluated low-intensity remote treatments, such as internet-delivered cognitive behavioural therapy programs, as well as high-intensity remote treatments, such as internet-videoconferencing delivered treatments.
This research has resulted in real world impacts including increased access to evidence-based treatment for consumers with anxiety and related disorders.
This research has also demonstrated the potential to deliver entirely remote stepped-care treatments for mental health conditions, resulting in increased efficiency in the delivery of mental health care. To date, Associate Professor Wootton has supervised more than 50 Honours, Masters, and Higher Degree research students in the field of Clinical Psychology. Associate Professor Wootton demonstrates an exceptional ability to mentor students from a diverse range of backgrounds to become competent and independent clinical researchers.
