Anthony Cichello FAPS is an esteemed Clinical Psychologist, Health Psychologist and Counselling Psychologist with three decades of distinguished health care sector professional and governance leadership within tertiary hospitals, community and primary care settings. He was a pioneer in developing policy-based national and state primary mental health programs and in providing HIV/AIDS psychological services. He was appointed by government as Expert Witness and Executive Committee member reviewing the Better Access scheme, and by the Victorian Workcover Authority developing its Framework for Delivery of Psychological Services. He led a successful public sector workforce process that enhanced access to psychologists by improving career range and salary, setting a national benchmark.
Anthony is a past President of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), and was a Non-Executive Board Director for seven years. He led a governance restructure, transition from a long-serving Executive, and provision of psychological evidence assisting advocacy agencies during the Marriage Equality vote. He was National Chair of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists and its Victorian Chair, and has been awarded the APS Clinical College Award of Distinction and the Victorian APS Clinical College Significant Contribution Award. He works in private practice and as Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology at RMIT University.
