Professor Natalie Gasson

Distinguished Contribution to Psychological Education Award

Professor Natalie Gasson

Professor Natalie Gasson MAPS is a registered psychologist and Deputy Head of the School of Population Health at Curtin.

Teaching psychology for over 30 years, she has coordinated the education of over 4500 graduates.  Across 15+ years of course coordination she led the expansion of undergraduate psychology offerings including online programs, double degrees, Secondary Education, and programs at offshore campuses.

Natalie spearheaded scholarship across topics including psychological literacy, career pathways for undergraduates, and work-integrated learning.

She worked with external stakeholders including the School Curriculum and Standards Authority and maintains connections for joint supervision of honours students (e.g., research institutes, hospitals, NGOs).

Professor Natalie Gasson is a Fellow of the Curtin Academy and has advocated for clear career pathways for teaching-focused academics and is one of the first two teaching academics promoted to Professor at Curtin.

She is a committee member of the APS Psychology Education Interest Group and was Co-Convenor of AusPLAT2025. She is a member of the International Reference Group on Undergraduate Psychology Outcomes.

She remains active in teaching and believes “For undergraduate students, the presence of professors in the classroom demonstrates clearly that they are a valued part of the university community and worthy of the time of the most senior staff.”
