Dr Nicholas Day

Dr Nicholas Day is a lecturer at the University of Wollongong and practicing clinical psychologist. Previously, he was a research fellow at Project Air Strategy, a personality disorder research, teaching and treatment lab.

He has published extensively in leading Q1 journals in clinical psychology and psychiatry, with over 20 peer reviewed journal articles, two book chapters and a clinician treatment manual. His research expertise is on the topic of personality disorder, focusing on issues of conceptualisation, assessment, diagnosis and treatment, with a particular focus on narcissistic and borderline personality disorder.

His research and clinical practice is informed by contemporary, evidence based psychodynamic theory and treatment models, including transference focused (TFP) and mentalisation based (MBT) approaches.

He is also regularly sought as an expert commentator on the topic of personality disorder, with an invited appearance on SBS Insight on the topic of 'Narcissism', as well as interviews across radio, podcast, webinar, and news media.

He is an executive committee member of the Australasian Association for Research and Treatment of Personality Disorder (AART-PD), a leading member of the Australian Chapter of the International Society of Transference-Focused Psychotherapy, and an editorial board member of the Journal of Psychotherapy Integration.

His research includes securing over $150,000 in competitive research funding, and leading national and international collaborations spanning Australia, the UK, Denmark, Canada, the USA, and Italy.
