Gambling-related harm: Position statement

This position statement provides an overview of gambling-related harm in the Australian context and positions psychologists' responses to gambling-related issues.

The APS recognises that there are many causes and consequences of gambling-related harm. Gambling harm is a significant individual, community and public health issue, and effective interventions therefore need to both reduce the potential for harm to the individual and his or her family, and address broader social, community, political and economic factors. Recommendations for government and roles for psychologists are identified.
