Workshop Event

Schema Therapy (Level 2/Advanced) Training "Beyond the Basics"

Overview

This Level 2 Workshop is a 3-Day Advanced program and curriculum approved by the International Society for Schema Therapy (ISST). The program is designed to help those with some background in schema therapy to fine-tune their skills (e.g. experiential techniques, imagery rescripting, chairwork, limited reparenting). The workshop will also specifically look at the implementation of schema treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) as well as Narcissism, Cluster C personality disorders, and applications to chronic axis 1 problems (e.g. chronic depression). Participants will have extensive opportunity to practice experiential exercises such as imagery rescripting and chairwork. In addition, time will be allocated to commonly experienced difficulties such as working with the detached protector and strong (parent) inner-critic modes. This 3-day program can be used towards individual certification in Schema Therapy with the International Society of Schema Therapy.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Build skills in assessment and formulation of treatment barriers using the schema mode model.
  2. Develop an understanding of several techniques for bypassing strong detachment - including skills for working in schema Therapy within a Therapeutic window of tolerance.
  3. Build skills to work in a sturdy yet empathic way with strong anger and overcompensation (including cases of Narcissistic Personality Disorder).
  4. Have an opportunity to deepen one's skills in implementing emotion focused techniques (e.g. Imagery Rescripting, Chairwork Dialogues, Historical Role Play)
