Submission to Senate Inquiry into the Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Bill

This document is a submission the APS made in 2012 to the Senate Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee Inquiry into the Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Bill.

In the submission, the APS draws on available evidence which shows that discrimination has detrimental impacts on psychological health and wellbeing, with far-reaching health, social and economic consequences for communities.

The APS submission supports the intent of the proposed Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Bill to consolidate Commonwealth anti-discrimination law to ‘strengthen human rights and advance equality for all’, and also calls for a Human Rights Act or Charter.
