APS College
Overview
This webinar, developed for members of the APS College of Forensic Psychologists, will provide an overview of the new PsyBA ‘equivalence pathway’ for achieving an additional Area of Practice Endorsement (AoPE).
The origins of this novel pathway will be discussed, as will the application process, requirements for meeting ‘equivalence’, and possible outcomes.
The webinar will include input and advice from Forensic Psychologists who have been successful in achieving recognition of an additional AoPE via this pathway, as well as information to clarify what may result in an unsuccessful application.
While the webinar will focus on those with Forensic Psychology postgraduate degrees (Masters/Doctorate) who are interested in pursuing a Clinical endorsement, the principles and information discussed will be relevant for those who may wish to pursue recognition of equivalence in other AoPE’s.
Learning Outcomes
The webinar will address:
- The origins of the PsyBA equivalence pathway – Where did it come from, overview of initial test cases
- How the equivalence pathway works – What is the process, what has to be demonstrated in terms of equivalence of degree subjects, placements, supervision, research, and registrar endorsement experience.
- Successful vs unsuccessful applications
There will be time allocated for questions with the presenters and further discussion.
*Please note that the advice that will be presented and discussed in this session will be general in nature and based on the experiences of the presenters and their knowledge of the 'equivalence pathway' process. While there will be time to discuss common themes, requirements, tips, and challenges, there will not necessarily be time (nor is it appropriate) to discuss specific individual cases given the variety of educational pathways and experiences that College members will have undertaken.
Presenter(s)
Dr. Tim Lowry, Yiota Zingirlis, Dr. Tarmala Caple, and Dr Jan Heath
