IFS and Trauma

Overview

The IFS Special Interest Group is pleased to invite members to an upcoming event with the founder of the IFS model – Dr Richard Schwartz who will present on IFS and trauma.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this event, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the core principles of IFS and examine its applicability for use in various common psychopathologies
  • Identify the relationship between the basic principles of IFS and the basic principles of trauma informed care
  • Integrate principles of both IFS and trauma focused care to understand how IFS can be used for clients with complex trauma
  • Apply concepts through case example: analyse case demonstrations to observe and discuss the practical integration of IFS with trauma informed care

About the presenter(s)

Dr. Richard Schwartz began his career as a systemic family therapist and academic and has developed the IFS model over four decades. Internal Family Systems (IFS) offers a profound understanding of healing and transformation in a non-pathologising approach and this workshop will provide a unique opportunity to learn directly from Dr. Schwartz about the fundamental theory, principles, and application of IFS.

Target Audience

This event is aimed at all clinicians interested in IFS and/or trauma.
