Workshop Event

Holistic assessment & management of adults with ADHD & comorbidity using The Focalength Method™

Organiser Banner

Overview

Are you feeling overwhelmed with the complexity or stalled progress of some clients?

Become proficient in The Focalength Method™ of assessing and managing the whole person who presents with complex mental health, physical, social and functional impairment issues, with specific best practice focus on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and comorbidities.

The Focalength Method™ was born from Dr Tony Mastroianni’s reputable holistic approach to rehabilitating severely mentally ill forensic patients in the Sydney Forensic and Long Bay Hospitals for over 20 years, and to treating his general psychiatric and ADHD patients in private practice, with excellent clinical outcomes.

This interactive in-person workshop will empower psychologists and other mental health practitioners to assess complex patients in a structured, holistic manner (based on capacity and function as well as diagnoses) to create dynamic and holistic management plans for patients and families. Based on adult learning principles, best practice and evidence-based treatment guidelines, the workshop is designed to enable practitioners to reinforce and extend their skills in general mental and physical health, in addition to ADHD and neurodiversity. The workshop will include pre-session didactic video training which allows for more collaborative work on the case studies during the in-person workshop, for enhanced learning.

The workshop will cover:

  1. The Focalength Method™: a novel model for assessing and managing mental health holistically, integrating physical, emotional, cognitive, trauma, belief systems, and other functional domains. Learn how to categorise patients into functional and capacity domains, understand the impact of these domains on diagnoses, and how to maintain simultaneous focus on all aspects of a person, to effectively manage their care and minimise risk.
  2. Best practice, systemised clinical assessment of attentional disorders and comorbidity in the context of assessing the whole person.
  3. Using The Focalength Method™ to integrate holistic management of a patient with ADHD and comorbidities.
