What is the Well-Being room? (Healing room)

Our Well-Being Rooms are designated spaces facilitated by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, where you can ground yourself and feel safe at events such as conferences, gatherings or workshops," says The Seedling Group Co-Founder and Kabi Kabi and Australian South Sea Islander psychologist Kelleigh Ryan.

"It's an area where you can come and sit quietly or have a yarn with a trauma-informed therapist, counselors, or support staff to help process information that may be emotionally difficult. It’s a space to engage all of your senses and help bring calmness.”  In the center of the room is a yarning circle, based on the traditional concept of a gathering place, for respectful knowledge sharing or sitting in silence and learning from others. This welcoming space is a place to replenish your spirit, and social, emotional, and physical well-being and ground yourself, while in the company of others. We look forward to meeting you there.

What should I wear?

“Business casual” attire is appropriate for all conference sessions and social functions.

Can I store my bag somewhere?

Please refrain from bringing your personal belongings to the conference venue where possible; only bring minimal items in a small bag. Attendees are responsible for their own personal possessions and must not leave bags or possessions unattended in any of the session rooms or at registration desk at any time; any items left will be treated as lost property and handed to the venue. If required, coats can be stored with concierge.

How do I access session resources?

Will I receive a printed copy of workshop resources at the conference?

At the APS we are focused on reducing the environmental impact of our events and will not be providing printed programs for future conferences and events. A large copy of the program will be available for viewing at the registration desk.

By reducing our printed collateral at this event, we hope to not only reduce our carbon footprint, but also to set an example to all attendees, sponsors and other important stakeholders.

This is just the first step in an important journey to reduce the environmental impact of these events. We invite you to join us in our efforts by providing your feedback and sharing ideas for other ways we can go green.

Where do I go for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea?

Catering will be provided each day in the conference exhibition area. We suggest bringing a water bottle, but tea and coffee will be available during breaks.
