Psychology and Integrative Mental Health Interest Group Thesis Award

The Award promotes the development of higher degree research in the field of integrative mental health within the discipline of psychology.

Administration

The Interest Group on Psychology and Integrative Mental Health will be responsible for administering the Award and for the funding of the Award.

  1. The National Committee for the Interest Group will appoint a selection committee of at least three (3) members of the Interest Group to be responsible for selecting an appropriate Award winner.
  2. The Award will be announced via APS digital communication channels, and presented at the annual general meeting of the Interest Group on Psychology and Integrative Mental Health. 

Eligibility

Nominees must have completed an APAC Accredited higher degree (e.g., Masters, Professional Doctorate or PhD) in psychology within one (1) year of the date of nominating for the Award.

Nomination process

  1. A call for nominations for the Award should:
    1. be advertised in the appropriate APS digital communication channel
    2. be provided to the Heads of Department of each tertiary institution that has independent membership of the Australian Vice-Chancellor’s Committee.
  2. Nominations may be accepted from the nominee or, with the agreement of the nominee, a supervisor, or colleague of the nominee, or a Head of Department.
  3. Nominations for an Award must be supported by a proposer and seconder;
    1. who might or might not be members of the Interest Group Psychology and Integrative Mental Health, but must be members of the Society
    2. include justification for the nomination based on the selection criteria
  4. Nominations must include submission of the thesis title and abstract, and the report of the thesis examiners by the date set in the call for nominations.
  5. Nominations must be submitted via the Award Nomination Portal here.

Selection criteria

In judging the nominations for the Thesis Award for Studies in Psychology and Integrative Mental Health, the selection committee will assess the following in relation to the field of Psychology and Integrative Mental Health:

  1. the scientific merit of the thesis; and
  2. the contribution of the research to theory; and for
  3. the contribution of the research to practice.

Value of award

Successful candidates of the award will:

  1. Be presented with a certificate
  2. The total amount presented per year for this Award will be $150.00
  3. Subscription to the Interest Group for the one year subscription period after the award
