Dr Scott Kellogg PhD

Scott Kellogg, PhD, is a Clinical Psychologist and an Addiction Psychologist in private practice in New York City. He trained in Gestalt Therapy at Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy in New York City and he has been certified as an Advanced Schema Therapist by the International Society of Schema Therapy and as a Voice Dialogue Practitioner by the New York Institute for Voice Dialogue.  Dr. Kellogg has served on the faculties of New York University, The Rockefeller University, the Yale University School of Medicine, and the Clinical Psychology Program at Teachers College/Columbia University. He received his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York in 1993. 

Dr. Kellogg is the Past-President of the Division on Addictions of the New York State Psychological Association (20015, 2011, 2005, 2001), and he was a co-director of the Harm Reduction and Mental Health Project at New York University. His writings and presentations have addressed such topics as schema therapy, Chairwork, addiction treatment, harm reduction, identity theory, and contingency management. In addition to an ongoing program of Transformational Chairwork training sessions that are held in New York City, Dr. Kellogg has given presentations or held trainings at the New York University Medical Center, the International Society of Schema Therapy Conference (2010/Berlin; 2012/New York; Vienna/2016),  the New York Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University, the British Psychological Society, National Association of Social Workers Addictions Institute (2012-2016, 2018), the Brooklyn Veterans Administration Medical Center, the Albert Ellis Institute, the Association for the Advancement of Gestalt Therapy Conference, the New York State Psychological Association Annual Conference, the New Jersey Schema Therapy Institute, the National Harm Reduction Conference (7th, 9th, 12th), the Hellenic Society for the Advancement of Psychiatry and Related Sciences (Greece), the International Society for Schema Therapy Summer Training Program (Germany), the Universitäre Psychiatrische Kliniken, Institut fur Schematherapie Ostschweiz (Switzerland), Universität Basel (Switzerland), the NYU Cancer Anxiety Research Project, and the National Drugs Conference Ireland 2010. Other European workshops and presentations include the Klinikk for Psykologbehandling (Oslo, Norway – 2013, 2015, 2017), the Danish Gestalt Forum (Aarhus, Denmark, 2013), the Centrum Terapii Poznawczo-Behawioralnej (Warsaw, Poland, 2013), and at Compassionate Wellbeing (Derby, England, 2013).  In 2014, He completed a five-city training tour of Australia.  His 2015 and 2016 presentations included Psychiatry Grand Rounds at Jacobi Hospital (NYC), Substance Abuse Rounds at Bellevue Hospital (NYC), the NYSPA Division on Addictions Conference/The New School (NYC), Faculty Rounds at the NYU Child Study Center, and the Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy Target Series.  In 2017, he turned his focus to South America.  First, he did a two-day training in Peru (Gestalt Grupo Perú); he then took part in the 2nd Congresso Wainer de Psicoterapias Cognitivas in Porto Alegre, Brazil.  In 2018, he gave a two-day workshop in Seoul, South Korea that was sponsored by the METTAA Institute, a KIPHÆ-sponsored training in Montreal, Canada, and a one-day workshop at Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy.  Dr. Kellogg began 2019 with a presentations the Callen Lorde Community Health Center and at the Psychotherapy and Spirituality Institute and he went on to give presentations and workshops at the Australian Psychological Society Conference and the VIKOTE Kongresszus 2019 (Budapest, Hungary).  2020 saw an on-line presentation at the ISST Inspire Conference in May and an on-line keynote presentation at the Compassionate Mind Foundation Conference in October; in 2021, in collaboration with his colleague, Amanda Garcia Torres, LMHC, he presented at the 2021 International Society for Schema Therapy Virtual Summit, in the UK with Stanton Psychological Services and with The Weekend University.  They finished the year with three-day online training in Singapore with Elephant Therapy and Training.  The work in 2022 has, so far, included a keynote and workshop for the ITA Conference (Israeli CBT Association), a presentation and demonstration with Rebel Wisdom, and a workshop at the Schema Therapy in Orient and Occident Conference (Cairo, Egypt). 

In addition, he provides frequent workshops on Chairwork in New York City and abroad.
