Overview

The APS hosts this activity with the Psychology and Ageing Interest Group (PAIG).

Falls are a significant issue for Australians and are the leading cause of injury related hospitalization and death in Australia, and represent a significant risk for older adults.  

This webinar will provide an overview of fear of falling and its impact on older Australians.
The presentation will also discuss some broader considerations regarding assessment and management of falls for older Australians and explore the role of the multi-disciplinary team in addressing these issues.

Foundational. This activity is targeted to those new to the topic.

This webinar will be recorded. Access to the recording and presenter slides is for 12 months from the date of confirmed registration.

Rachel Mouer

About the presenter(s)

Rachel Mouer is a physiotherapist who joined the Fight Parkinson’s team in December 2021. Before joining the Fight Parkinson’s team, she had gained over 8-years of clinical experience in Victorian public health with a focus on neurological and rehabilitation populations. Rachel has always held an interest in Movement Disorders and has focused on gaining clinical experience in this space through her roles, as well as assisting to develop resources to upskill staff in the management of Parkinson’s and to review care delivery in this space. She is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association’s Neurological and Gerontology National Groups and the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society; and also holds a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Rehabilitation from the University of Melbourne.
