The APS hosts this activity with the APS College of Clinical Psychologists.

In approaching the end of their lives, patients will often experience challenges in the way that they are able to cope, both physically and psychologically and when paired with the enormity of making sense of their own mortality, it is common for patients to experience significant distress, anxiety, and depression at this time. 

This webinar will explore:

• common presenting concerns that people approaching the end of life might experience, and

• common approaches and strategies to work therapeutically with this group.

Foundational. This activity is targeted to those new to the topic.

• identify ACT based interventions to support patients experiencing anxiety, distress or low mood in the context of their situation.

Dr Toni Lindsay MAPS

About the presenter(s)

Dr Toni Lindsay is a Clinical and Health Psychologist who has been working with both adults and adolescents for over 10 years.
Toni works at the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse in the Oncology service and is a specialist in the care of Adolescents and Young Adults with cancer.
She is passionate about working with and teaching health professionals about the psychological impact of cancer on both patients and health care professionals.
She teaches in the Department of Adolescent Medicine at the University of Melbourne and the University of Sydney Nursing School.
She has two published books ‘Cancer, Sex, Drugs and Death’ (2017) and ‘The Cancer Companion’ (2021) which are both about the use of ACT in Cancer Care. Her third book is due to be released in 2022.
Dr Lindsay is an AHPRA-approved supervisor and provides clinical supervision for both psychologists and other health professionals.
