Blended pain care: A novel hybrid service model for chronic pain and mental health support

Closes 14 September 2026

What is this project about?
Psychologists play a key role in supporting people living with chronic pain and mental health concerns, but access to integrated, blended care remains limited in Australia. This study is part of a broader Blended Pain Care project and aims to understand psychologists' perspectives, training, and experiences of providing care for clients with comorbid chronic pain and mental health difficulties, to help inform the development of a blended care model.

Who is eligible to participate?
We're inviting psychologists who are provisionally or fully AHPRA-registered and currently practising in Australia to participate.

What does participation involve?
You will complete an approximately 15-minute online survey via REDCap, which includes questions about your training and competency in working with clients who have chronic pain and mental health concerns, beliefs and attitudes towards chronic pain (using the HC-PAIRS scale), barriers to providing integrated or blended care, and your general professional experiences.

Participation is voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time during data collection without penalty or needing to provide a reason.

As a thank you, participants can enter a prize draw for one of five $100 Prezzee vouchers.

Ethics approval has been granted by the South Metropolitan Health Service HREC, Protocol RGS0000006295.
