Are you a registered psychologist, or hold an accredited postgraduate professional or research higher degree in psychology?

There are two differerent pathways to becoming a Member.

 

Member pathway 1: Standard route

You can join as a Member if you have completed a six-year sequence of study in psychology.

The six years of study includes four years of Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited study in psychology and either

  • A two year or more APAC-accredited postgraduate coursework degree, or
  • A postgraduate research degree (minimum two years full-time) in psychology.

Membership pathway 2: Non-standard route

Not a graduate with a six-year APAC-accredited sequence of study?  

Your alternative route to membership 

Strand one

You are elibligle for this pathway if you:

  • Hold current general registration as a psychologist in Australia;and
  • Have held general registration as a psychologist in Australia for at least five years; and
  • Have worked as a registered psychologist for the full-time equivalent of at least five years.

Strand two

You are eligible for this pathway if you:

  • Have completed a four-year sequence of study in psychology accredited by APAC, and
  • Have passed the National Psychology Examination, and
  • Hold current general registration as a psychologist in Australia

Strand three

Strand three of the non-standard route is available for

  • academics
  • psychologists from overseas
  • psychologists who are not able to meet strand one or strand two requirements may be eligible to apply via strand three.

*Join between 11 February and 31 May of the same year, you recieve  APS membership until 31 May of the following year.

New Graduate Fees

You are eligible for the New Graduate Fee if you apply within 12 months from completing your 5th and 6th year course requirements. You will receive a 50% discount in your first year of membership and a 25% discount in the following year. Your fees will then revert to the standard Member rate.

If you are eligible for other reductions in fee, you will be given the most generous of the relevant reduction available.
^The date that determines whether you are eligible for the Member, New Graduate rate is the date when you met all the course requirements for your degree, NOT the date when you graduated or received your qualification certificate.

Recent Graduate Fees

You are eligible for the Recent Graduate Fee if you apply within 24 months^ from the date you completed your 5th and 6th year course requirements . You will receive a 25% discount when you first join the APS. Your fees will then revert to the standard Member rate.
