Psychology Board of Australia supervisor training requirements
The APS Institute is a PsyBA-approved training provider for all forms of supervisor training. All psychologists who wish to provide supervision for registrants undertaking the 4+2 and 5+1 internships, the registrar program and higher degree placements must complete the required training to be a Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA)-approved supervisor.
Supervisors who did not gain PsyBA-approved status under the transition arrangements or has not been a Supervisor must complete the full supervisor training (Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3) to be recognised as an approved supervisor. PsyBA-approved supervisor training entails at least 20 hours of training presented in three distinct, stipulated component parts:
The APS Institute is a PsyBA-approved provider of Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 training programs. These three training parts may be undertaken with different PsyBA-approved training providers but must be completed sequentially. Psychologists wishing to undertake the training must meet the eligibility criteria for PsyBA approval.
Please note: Training providers are required to supply participant outcome data to the PsyBA after the completion of each training component.
Existing PsyBA-approved supervisors must undertake refresher training every five years by completing, as a minimum, a six-hour, face-to-face master class to update their knowledge and skills. The APS Institute is a PsyBA-approved provider of refresher/master class training.
