Join us on a workshop exploring perinatal mental health within cross cultural contexts. We will explore perinatal mental health for migrant and refugee families, parenting across cultures and giving birth across cultures. 

There will be a tour around Tresillian grounds.

Learning outcomes for this workshop are: 

With this workshop, participants will be able to apply knowledge of perinatal mental health in a cross cultural context, including specific presentations and challenges for migrant and refugee families; develop an understanding of parenting across cultures, including cultural ideologies and infant development, cultural learning and cross-cultural child rearing practices, and explain the contrasting beliefs, values and practices of birth among different culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

About the presenter(s)

Gabriela is a Clinical and Counselling Psychologist with over thirty years of professional experience. She conducts training programmes on Cross Cultural Perinatal and Infant Mental Health, as well as Child and Family, Family Violence, Intergenerational Trauma, and Systemic Family Constellation Workshops. She works as Senior Clinical Consultant at NSW Transcultural Mental Health, previously Fairfield Community Health (Child and Family Team), other Health Centers and twenty two years of private practice including couple and family therapy.

Gabriela is an accredited supervisor with APHRA and the APS Clinical Psychologist College. She also had done a Masters in Applied Psychology, Dance/Movement Therapy and other post graduate courses as psychotherapist.
